Buyer guide
Plan the camera view and panel location together
Last checked 23 October 2026
Before selecting mounting hardware, prepare a layout showing the camera view, solar panel position and every cable connection. Have the installer confirm the support structure and attachment method for the actual equipment and site.
Start with the observation task
- Mark the areas you need to observe and the areas that should remain outside the view.
- Provide pole or wall dimensions, surface details and photographs of the intended attachment points.
- Ask the installer to review the combined equipment load, wind exposure, fasteners and any structural approval needed locally.
- Show how the panel will be positioned, adjusted, inspected and cleaned.
A high pole can expose a camera to sway and vibration; Axis explains that vibration effects become more pronounced at long focal lengths. Use this technical guidance to justify an installation trial at the intended zoom setting. It is not a structural design rule or a product stabilisation claim. Axis guidance on camera vibration.
Draw the complete cable route
| Item | Installer decision to record |
|---|---|
| Panel to charging equipment | Connector types, approved cable specification, routing and compatibility with the selected configuration. |
| Equipment connections | Support and strain relief, connection protection, service access and replacement procedure. |
| Network or power cable into a building | Entry route, separation from other services and the applicable grounding and surge-protection design. |
Axis’s surge white paper explains that protection depends on the complete cable and grounding path, and discusses surge protection for network cabling. Its shielded-cable instructions are for Axis installations: have the installer apply the selected equipment’s instructions rather than copying another system’s design. Axis power-surges technical guidance.
Agree the site acceptance check
Ask the installer to document the final fixings and connections, demonstrate the view across the intended movement range, check for obstruction and vibration, and show how maintenance can be performed safely. Obtain the model-specific installation instructions before approving hardware.
Your next step
Send a marked site photo, support dimensions and proposed panel location to discuss the mounting brief.
