Import documents: match the market and exact configuration

Before importing a radio-connected camera, ask a competent compliance adviser to map the destination, exact hardware, radio variant and software to the applicable rules. Request a document pack tied to that configuration before approving the order.
EU: radio requirements and cybersecurity timing
The Radio Equipment Directive (RED) provides the EU legal framework for radio equipment, including safety and health, electromagnetic compatibility and efficient spectrum use. The European Commission’s explanatory page is guidance about that binding framework. European Commission RED overview.
For covered radio equipment, the additional cybersecurity requirements under Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/30 applied from 1 August 2025, following the date amendment in 2023/2444. The UK government’s explanatory factsheet describes the scope: network protection for internet-connected radio equipment; privacy safeguards when it can process personal, traffic or location data; and fraud protection for equipment enabling transfers of monetary value. For future orders, the Commission says repeal of that delegated regulation takes effect on 11 December 2027, aligned with the Cyber Resilience Act’s main obligations. Ask your adviser to assess the planned market-entry date and transition. Commission cybersecurity update.
UK: distinguish Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/30 applies in Northern Ireland; it is not itself the Great Britain regime. Great Britain has its own Radio Equipment Regulations 2017 and applicable product-security rules. The UK’s official guidance describes CE and UKCA routes for Great Britain and separate rules for Northern Ireland. Use the appropriate route and check the declaration, technical documentation, identification, marking and instructions for the shipment. US: identify the radio-authorisation route
The Federal Communications Commission’s rules in 47 CFR 15.201 generally require certification before marketing for intentional radiators operating under Part 15, subject to the rule’s exceptions. Have the adviser identify every applicable radio rule, including the cellular configuration; request the relevant grants and the conditions applying to the assembled device and its antenna.
Build the order-specific checklist
- Exact model, hardware and software identifiers, radio module and antenna configuration.
- Destination-specific declarations, assessment route, technical-file references and applicable test evidence.
- Photos of labels and packaging, supplied instructions and the responsible economic operators.
- A written explanation of which functions the cybersecurity assessment covers.
- Installer and operator review of recording purpose, access permissions, privacy information, retention and any required impact assessment.
